October 25th is world pasta day, a wonderful day that, in our opinion should be celebrated by all! Eating pasta often goes hand in hand with being a student, its easy, its cheap, its filling and it tastes great. For those of you living in IPM off-campus student accommodation, it should be either your second or third year living in Lancaster so by now, you should have an idea of the great Italian restaurants the town centre has! If not, we’ve put together our guidance as Lancaster locals on how to make the most of world pasta day.

Eating Out in Lancaster Centre

Lancaster town centre is home to so many wonderful Italian restaurants, some of which are popular chains and others independently run. Restaurants such as Zizzi and Bella Italia are huge restaurant chains loved by many up and down the country, Bella Italia also offer students 30% off main meals!

Lancaster also has a host of independently run restaurants that we are certain will be celebrating world pasta day, plus, as they’re based within the town centre, they’re all located a short distance away from your Lancaster student accommodation. Lancaster Spaghetti House is a family owned and run Italian restaurant based in the city centre and is a popular spot amongst Lancaster University students as it offers a happy hour deal.

Another extremely popular spot loved by both locals and students is Etna, running for over 30+ years, this restaurant is not one to be missed if you are a serious pizza and pasta lover.

Stopping in to Cook

For those of you who prefer to stay in, don’t worry you can still enjoy world pasta day in the comfort of your Lancaster student accommodation! If you’re not the best at cooking, there are many places in Lancaster you can get pasta delivered to your student home. Bella Italia does deliveries, as well as Marco’s, which used to be a popular Italian restaurant and has now branched out into doing takeaways and deliveries.

If you’re wanting to stay home and cook, we’ve also got you covered. Pasta is such an affordable meal to have, and no matter your food preferences (veggie, vegan, gluten free etc), you are still able to easily cook and enjoy a nice bowl of pasta! BBC Good Food have an excellent selection of different recipes for you ranging from novice to professional chef so no matter what your skills in the kitchen are like, you should still be able to join in and enjoy.

Whatever you decide to do, here at IPM we hope you have a wonderful time. To keep up to date with all things IPM, Lancaster and Lancaster student living, visit our blog page here.
