Enjoy homemade pancakes in your student home
Whether you consider yourself an amateur chef or a complete novice, Pancake Day is a great reason to get in the kitchen and experiment. Plus, it’s a good way to spend time with your housemates in your Lancaster student home. You could cook together, compete for the title of ‘greatest pancake flipper’, or make the whole flat a treat to score some extra housemate brownie points.
First things first, the ingredients… Wherever your student accommodation is based, Lancaster city centre should only be a stone’s throw away. For students on a budget, we’d recommend Aldi or Lidl for nice fresh ingredients that don’t break the bank.
Looking for a bit of inspiration before you hit the kitchen? For all things baking, cooking and decorating, we’d recommend the BBC food website. Find a variety of different recipes to suit your taste or preference.
Dine out in Lancaster city centre
If the idea of making pancakes from scratch does not appeal to you, don’t worry- Lancaster boasts a variety of lovely cafes and lunch spots serving pancakes! One of the perks of living in off-campus accommodation is how close you are to the city centre, so all you need to do is roll out of bed to enjoy some great good.
Kaspa’s Lancaster is an obvious choice for pancakes, located at the top of Lancaster city centre, it offers a wide range of hot and cold desserts. Another popular spot is the Gallico Lounge which can be found in the town centre boasting a selection of both savoury and sweet pancakes!
If you ask any local for their recommendation, however, there’s only one place on their lips… The Wallings Pudding House in Cockerham. A bit further out than our other recommendations, Wallings is a firm favourite among both locals and university students and is definitely worth making the trip out.
Stuck on campus this Pancake Day? Lancaster University is also giving away free pancakes to undergraduates, so even if you live in off-campus accommodation in Lancaster centre, it might be worth the journey up to the Lancaster University Campus to get your free pancakes! Don’t forget to register with your college on the website first though.
