For those of you who are not local to the area, you may be wondering where the best place in Lancaster is to go on a date! This could be with your partner, your housemates or with someone new, but here at IPM, we want to make sure you’re having a good time and not missing out on any of the cities (not so secret) romantic spots!

Lancaster is home to so many wonderful places if you just know where to find them. If you’re looking for an action-packed day out, a meal for 2, or a romantic walk with picturesque views, we’re sure to have you covered.

Restaurants

Going out to a nice restaurant is a perfect way to spend a date, it allows you to chat to/catch up with each other and enjoy some good food. Luckily for our Lancaster students, the town centre itself has a wide selection of different eateries, whether you prefer Italian food, Indian cuisine or a classic American burger, Lancaster has got you covered. Some spots, such as Cappuvino and Bella Italia, may be doing offers for students, so it’s worth asking if there’s discount. Other places such as The Borough and Zizzi’s are popular with the locals and sure to be a hit with anyone you take there. Most restaurants are located within Lancaster centre, and for those of you in off-campus student housing it should only be a short journey from your student accommodation.

Action-packed Activities

If you’re more of an activity person rather than going out for a meal (or maybe, you’ll do both) then don’t worry we’ve got you covered! Lancaster may only be a small city, but there’s still lots of fun activities you can take part it. Kanteena is one of the most popular spots in Lancaster with both locals and students as it hosts a range of different street food and bars. Kanteena is also home to Black Axe Throwing, a perfect date idea for those who love to be active and do something different. Plus if you take part in the axe throwing, and then choose to eat/drink at Kanteena after, they’ll also give you a 20% voucher off your food and drink, with is perfect for all our Lancaster students.

Lancaster Escape Room is also another great way to spend the evening, especially for those of you who go on group dates/hangouts. Its got 4 different escape rooms, as well as a series of different murder mystery interactive walks around the local area that are perfect for those of you who prefer an alternative date night. If you’re going out during the day instead and would prefer something much more chilled, why not head up to Williamson Park Butterfly House and mini Zoo. There is a small admission fee for entry, however they do offer discounts for Lancaster students, something to keep in mind though is that they do close at 4pm, which gives you the rest of the evening to spend how you wish.

Cocktails and Drinks

If the idea of a crazy packed date is not your cup off tea, and you much prefer something more low key a chilled, Lancaster is home to a range of different bars that are perfect to sit back, relax and grab a couple of drinks at. Tipple Cocktails is located right in the town centre, and serves a range of hand-crafted cocktails, beers and spirts! They even host a master class in cocktail making.

For those of you who are really into beer, Lancaster Brewery may be the perfect venue for your date. Not only can you sample a range of locally brewed beers, but you can go on a tour of the brewery itself to see how the beer is made.

Wherever you decide to go with the people most important to you, we hope you have a lovely time! To keep up to date with all things IPM, Lancaster student living and student accommodation, visit the IPM blog page here.
